Position Description

The University of Washington (UW) Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine is seeking applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) faculty position based out of Harborview Medical Center (HMC), the University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC), or the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS). This position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or full Professor rank (without tenure due to funding), commensurate with experience. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service. The anticipated start date would be July 1, 2022.

The position would provide clinical care and teach at HMC, UWMC, or VAPSHCS. This position will include a leadership role as the Associate Program Director for Primary Care in the UW Internal Medicine residency training program, and would report to and assist the program director in the administrative and clinical oversight of the UW Internal Medicine residency training program, specifically in the Primary Care Track.

Qualifications

Requirements include an M.D. or D.O. degree (or foreign equivalent) and Internal Medicine (or subspecialty of Internal Medicine) board eligibility/certification (or foreign equivalent).

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.

Only US citizens may work at VAPSHCS. Eligible candidates must have a demonstrated record of at least two years as a superior clinician and teacher in an academic setting, as well as experience working with underserved populations.
