Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and student success at the university level. The successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Lecturers are required to maintain additional hours outside the classroom to provide assistance to students. Specific assignments are dependent upon department needs. Candidates may be called upon to teach in a distance education mode.

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Assist in the development of practicum policies and procedures

  • Develop community partnerships and agreements with a variety of practicum placements

  • Arrange clinical placements for the MS-SLP students

  • Oversee required documentation of practicum experiences

  • Supervise clinical / practicum experiences and provide professional development for site supervisors

  • Teach graduate courses

  • Communicate effectively with students, field supervisors, and faculty;


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Hold the certificate of clinical competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) for a minimum of 3 years
  • Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in California (or eligible and must obtain the California license in speech-language pathology within the first year of employment)
  • Comprehensive understanding of communication disorders across the lifespan
  • Well developed collaboration, communication, organization, and counseling skills.
  • Commitment to teaching excellence and student success at the university level
  • Demonstrate commitment to working successfully with an ethically and culturally diverse student population


Preferred Qualification:
  • Clinical supervision experience
  • Experience with CAA accreditation standards for clinical education
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to CSUMB’s Vision
