Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching
excellence and student success at the university level. The
successful candidate must have the ability to work effectively with
students, faculty, and staff from diverse ethnic, cultural, and
socioeconomic backgrounds. Lecturers are required to maintain
additional hours outside the classroom to provide assistance to
students. Specific assignments are dependent upon department needs.
Candidates may be called upon to teach in a distance education
- Assist in the development of practicum policies and
- Develop community partnerships and agreements with a variety of
- Arrange clinical placements for the MS-SLP students
- Oversee required documentation of practicum experiences
- Supervise clinical / practicum experiences and provide
professional development for site supervisors
- Teach graduate courses
- Communicate effectively with students, field supervisors, and
- Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology
- Hold the certificate of clinical competence (CCC) in
speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing
Association (ASHA) for a minimum of 3 years
- Licensed as a speech-language pathologist in California (or
eligible and must obtain the California license in speech-language
pathology within the first year of employment)
- Comprehensive understanding of communication disorders across
