As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Manager of Advancement Engagement to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity. Under the direction of the Executive Director of Advancement Relations, the Manager is an integral part of the advancement team and serves to increase meaningful engagement among donors, friends, alumni, parents/families, and community members.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates closely with advancement colleagues to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, accuracy, and quality of engagement efforts and programs in facilitating first-in-class donor engagement experiences.
  • Benchmarks best- and next-practices across the industry in personal and corporate donor engagement.
  • Plans, organizes, and executes donor-centric programs (impact videos through ThankView, thank-a-thon events, naming opportunities).
  • Manages the named opportunities currently available throughout campus; maintains records of all named spaces on campus; seeks to recognize named donors throughout campus in a consistent and meaningful way.
  • Coordinates donor recognition for capital project donors, including events, signage, and communications (pillars, plaques, etc.).
  • Proactively supports Development Officers in ensuring stewardship deliverables and engagement opportunities are met for sponsorship or select major gift agreements (impact reports/proof of performance reports).
  • Supports Development Officers in pre- and post-event stewardship efforts for advancement signature events (Gala, Clayton, Women of Marian, President’s Appreciation Dinner, Scholarship Reception, etc.).
  • Serves as the liaison to the student services/student affairs team to:
    • Regularly develop student profiles to be featured in donor/prospect communication
    • Showcase students in videos for stewardship efforts
    • Update stories demonstrating the impact of donor generosity to students
    • Seek opportunities for engagement with families of current students through serving as a member of the cross-departmental family engagement staff team, providing monthly newsletter content, and supporting programming for Family Weekend (fall) and other family-focused events
    • Coordinates the Family Engagement Advisory Board (recruitment of family members, managing meeting logistics, etc.)
  • Partners with the Director of Advancement Communications to:
    • Update donor acknowledgement letter content on a quarterly basis
    • Update donor profiles regularly to provide content for donor recognition on the website, in newsletters, and through social media
  • Partners with the Manager of Advancement Events to plan and execute events surrounding groundbreaking, building dedication/blessings, named spaces reveal, etc.
  • Coordinates electronic/mail/telephone stewardship efforts for:
    • Anniversary of giving recognition
    • Consecutive giving recognition
    • Donor appreciation (Knights On Call program with staff)
    • Donor birthdays
    • First-time donors
    • License plate donors
  • Helps to revise and maintain an annual calendar of donor stewardship and outreach touchpoints.
  • Designs and implements donor surveys for the purpose of refining and improving reports and other donor communications; utilizes results to help design and execute programmatic changes as needed.
  • Writes memos, training guides, and procedures on stewardship plan implementation.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Advancement Relations or the Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • Have knowledge of and a commitment to the mission of Marian University.
  • Have two to five years of related work experience, preferably in higher education.
  • Commit to collegiality and collaborative decision-making.
  • Have exceptional interpersonal and communication skills using verbal, written, and electronic mediums.
  • Be able to work both independently and in a team environment, often with limited direction.
  • Be willing to conform to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines through analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Be highly detail oriented and have an effective skillset in Microsoft Office programs.
  • Exhibit professionalism and high ethical standards for maintaining confidential information.
  • Understand that events and activities outside of work hours—including some nights and weekends—are necessary to perform the duties of this job satisfactorily.
  • Have experience with databases/CRM systems.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate of Marian University.
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).
  • Raiser’s Edge database experience.
