Full/Associate/Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship and Business Administration (July 2021)

The Department of Business Administration in the Williams School of Commerce, Economics, and Politics and the Connolly Center for Entrepreneurship at Washington and Lee University invite applications for two positions. The first is the Johnson Professorship of Entrepreneurship and Leadership, an endowed chair in the Business Administration Department. The second is a tenure-track position at either the assistant or associate level, depending on experience. The appointments begin July 1, 2022. ABD candidates must present evidence that their dissertation will be defended by July 1, 2022 or soon thereafter and must have some teaching experience.

We seek candidates who embrace Washington and Lee‘s commitment to the liberal arts. Candidates should present a clear vision for an interdisciplinary entrepreneurship center that leverages current programming at the university. Candidates who can demonstrate expertise or experience with diverse pedagogical techniques are likewise encouraged to apply. Applicants should have experience teaching in both entrepreneurship-related classes as well as those in a related field in business (e.g., strategy, innovation, design thinking, creativity, sustainability, ethics).

Candidates must demonstrate the capacity to conduct ongoing scholarly research that is consistent with the rank sought and should be enthusiastic about making service contributions to the Connolly Center for Entrepreneurship’s co-curricular activities and the W&L community. We value candidates who have experience in industry, though it is not a requirement. To support faculty research agendas, the university has a generous five-year sabbatical cycle as well as a pre-tenure research leave program.

Lexington (population 7,000) is a warm, welcoming, and historic town located between the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains. Lexington is 40 minutes from Staunton (home of the American Shakespeare Center), one hour from Charlottesville, VA, and three hours southwest of Washington, D.C.

Qualifications
A PhD in a relevant field and demonstrated teaching effectiveness are required.
