Job Summary:
The Division of University Advancement at Miami University is
looking for new team members who want to make an impact on the

The Research Analyst is a member of the Office of Development
within the Division of University Advancement, reporting directly
to the Director of Prospect Development. The Prospect Development
unit assists Miami University’s fundraising efforts by leading
prospect research efforts, establishing and enforcing prospect
management practices, overseeing performance management, and using
analytics to help the University achieve its top priorities. The
scope of prospect development tasks and duties is determined by the
Assistant Vice President of Campaign Services and the Senior
Associate Vice President of University Advancement.

Duties/Physical Demands:
• Provides prospect development support to the Division and
college/units in an appropriate and timely fashion.
• Researches and analyzes Miami’s constituency (individuals and
organizations) to determine gift potential and volunteer
interests.
• Holds regular meetings with assigned Development staff to discuss
prospect development needs and review portfolios and
pipelines.
• Creates briefing documents for travel and events.
• Reviews push technology and print publications to make
appropriate database updates regarding Miami’s constituency in
accordance to industry best practices.
• Analyzes, summarizes, and compiles news articles for daily
internal communication.
• Keeps abreast of prospect development methods and resources.
Attends training sessions and networks with other prospect
development professionals via organizational memberships,
conferences, and electronic mailing lists focusing on prospect
development and fundraising issues.
• Strategizes and implements means of maintaining and promoting the
utmost in data integrity.
• Provides training on prospect development-related topics to
Development staff and University Advancement personnel.
• Assists with divisional projects, serves on related committees,
and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree.
Interview candidates will be asked to submit a writing sample.
Desired Qualifications:
At least one year related experience in research or in nonprofit development arena, particularly relational fundraising and prospect research and management strategies. Experience with research and wealth-screening tools (including but not limited to LexisNexis, iWave, and Wealth-X.) Knowledge of Miami University’s systems, Banner 9, data structures, and overall organization landscape. Critical thinking skills.

Excellent problem identification and solving, ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously, team-player with focus on building strong relationships and delivering information in a clear and timely manner.
