Position Summary:

Under general supervision of the Food Service Manager, this position is responsible for assisting in leading the daily operations. Duties will include oversight of high volume and exceptional quality food preparation, presentation and customer service. Assist in the training and development of part-time staff to achieve the same professional standards throughout the unit.

Oversees daily food service operations and performs food preparation activities in environments such as dining, retail, and/or catering venues to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve food service goals.

- Quick service cash sale restaurant operation.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation methods, techniques and equipment.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to train, lead and provide direction to part time staff.
- Sanitation requirements and procedures.

License or Certificate:

Possess or ability to obtain the following certifications within six months of hire:
1. Owner/operator bartender license
2. ServSafe Certification
3. State of Wisconsin Food Manager's License

Additional Information:

The Wisconsin Union operates two buildings on the UW-Madison campus. The Wisconsin Union is a financially self-supporting division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Financial support for the organization is provided by income earned by twenty-two food service units and a variety of nonfood units such as games, guest rooms, space rentals and campus vending. Substantial support is also provided by student fees. The total annual organizational budget is approximately $45 million dollars.

The Wisconsin Union is part of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, led by the
vice chancellor for student affairs. Our staff is dedicated to serving students and to helping them
succeed in and out of the classroom in areas including health and well-being, identity and inclusion, leadership and engagement, and student advocacy. Student Affairs includes departments led by the dean of students; departments that provide identity-based spaces and leadership resources; the Wisconsin Union; University Health Services; and University Recreation and Wellbeing.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule will vary, to include days, nights weekends and holidays as needed. Schedule will vary depending on business needs.
-Peak periods of the year, required minimum of 45 hours per week.
-Required 40 hours per week during non-peak periods.
-Required to work each home football game.

This position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

***Starting pay $18.00 with the opportunity to receive an additional $.80 per hour for night and weekend differential pay.

Hours worked on Saturday and Sunday after 6:00 pm receive both pay differentials for an additional $1.60 per hour.

Overtime pay earned for hours worked over 40 hours in a work week.

Potential to use vacation time during the last two weeks of the year when the building(s) are closed for the holiday season.
