TThe S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Syracuse University is looking for an individual to teach VIS 507- Intermediate Design and Production for Non-Majors. Class meets Mondays 9:30-12:15pm in the fall 2021 semester (3 credits).

Course Description: This course teaches intermediate design, with a focus on developing more sophisticated layout, illustration and production skills while exploring classic and contemporary design styles. Qualifications
A Master’s degree plus teaching experience is preferred. Job Specific Qualifications Responsibilities
It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.

  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.

  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.

  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.

  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.

  • Meeting all designated class periods.

  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

  • Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.

  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.

  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to instruct the class in the assigned classroom on the days it is designated to meet.

  • Ability to hold office hours.

  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.
  • Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
