Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing Coordinator

The Assistant Director of Residence Life and Housing Coordinator lives on campus and will manage the placement, movement, and consolidation of all on campus residents and for all on campus residence facilities. This position reports to the Director of Student and Residence Life and will provide timely and appropriate co-curricular programming; including programming and events that celebrate diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate will monitor, advise, counsel and report behavior of residents according to Northwood University’s policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage, execute, and direct Residence Life programming
  • Share on call rotation
  • Direct housing sign up, placement, and consolidation
  • Maintain “R” and “C” codes for commuter and resident status in colleague
  • Enter and update all housing information in Colleague
  • Member of the Well-Being Task Force
  • Assist Director of Student and Residence Life with programming creation and execution
  • Monitor housing facilities and alert of potential renovations and improvements
  • Manage discipline of Northwood University residents of Miner, Dubois, and Negele Village
  • Manage and counsel Resident Advisors with respect to their roles in the discipline process
  • Conduct discipline hearings and assess fines/punishment as necessary
  • Assist with hiring and training of Resident Advisors
  • Assist staff in dealing with conflicts involving diversity issues
  • Develop personal relationships with the residents to become aware of their attitudes, interests, needs, and concerns
  • Build rapport with all residents and foster open communication
  • Work with Resident Advisors to engage residents in programming and campus life
  • Assist in updating website and other marketing efforts related to housing and Residence Life
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree
  • Have a minimum of one year of experience in Residential Life
  • Excellent inter-personal communication skills and detail oriented
  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
  • Able to walk distances between housing complexes
  • Work beyond the traditional 40 hour work week
