Posted: Jun 25, 2021
Apply By: Open until filled

Description

The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position to serve as a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor in Audiology. This is a benefit-eligible 9-month position. Summer teaching associated with this position may be available but not guaranteed. The Department is CAA accredited and offers BS, MS, AuD, and PhD degrees.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include: (1) Teach graduate and undergraduate clinical practicum courses; (2) Initiate and maintain partnerships with a variety of clinical sites and their respective extern perceptors; (3) Ensure that students are provided with the guidance needed to meet the knowledge and skills competencies across the scope of practice; and (4) Secure new off-site placements as needed by coordinating the completion of affiliation and program agreements.

In addition to instructional responsibilities on campus, clinical faculty may provide clinical education of students at external sites, collaborate with industry and governmental agencies, coordinate externships, manage summer treatment camps, service learning, and other student activities outside the classroom.

Clinical teaching faculty are required to participate in course-instructor evaluations, focus primarily on excellence in clinical instruction and engagement and contribute to department, college, and industry service. Performance evaluation will be based on course instructor surveys, peer observations, service, and clinical instruction and engagement, as entered annually into the Faculty Activity Report (FAR) system. For clinical faculty, excellence may be demonstrated through impactful outreach activities to providers and consumers of clinical services. Relevant quality indicators for clinical faculty include, but are not limited to, the creation of new student opportunities within the community; holding office in professional organizations; development of inter-professional education and practice activities; and offering presentations/workshops for providers, clients, and other stakeholders.

Service contributions may be within the university or external to it. However, some internal service is expected. Examples of university service include membership on committees, advising student organizations, and curriculum or program development. Examples of external service include membership and leadership in professional societies, service on governmental advisory committees, professional consulting with outside organizations, and involvement in professional continuing education.
