Applications Programmer Analyst III



Job Summary

The Application Programmer Analyst III designs, implements, supports, maintains, and enhances applications. Consults with users to define detailed requirements, analyze business needs, consider current and future business implications, translate functional into technical requirements, validate solutions, and drive business process improvement efforts.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Leads the design, development, support, maintenance, and enhancement of business application systems.
  • Writes test scripts and performs detailed testing for complex cases to ensure that the implemented software functions correctly.
  • Evaluates software and enters complex software configurations to meet user needs.
  • Facilitates troubleshooting with technical, reporting, and application resources to analyze and resolve production issues. Provides input into possible solutions.
  • Reviews and verifies that documentation of training materials, process, procedure, and system application configurations are accurate.
  • Develops new techniques and procedures to enhance university business application systems.
  • Reviews progress, evaluates results, recommends new processes, and promotes best practices.
  • Partner with business analysts and respective cross-functional business groups to elicit functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors including software providers, implementation partners, and consultants to achieve business goals.
  • Understand existing and anticipated ERP functionality, including cloud-based offerings, that meet business demand.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Five years of professional full-time experience in an information technology field.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Systems analysis and design experience

Experience reading code and programming in one or more languages that might include PL/SQL, Java, C++ and shell scripting languages.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Relational database experience, preferably using Oracle.

Experience supporting ERP business management software.

Experience with Web technologies to include HTML, XML, scripting and stylesheets.

Experience developing interfaces utilizing an integration platform, such as Boomi.

Experience with utilizing vendor provided API web services to access and deliver data.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of interface construction.

Knowledge of operating systems such as Windows, Unix, and Linux.

Knowledge of relational databases such as Microsoft Access, SQL Server, or Oracle.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Skill in mapping, analyzing and re-engineering business processes in an organization of considerable size and complexity with diverse customer needs.

Ability to think critically and creatively, have a high standard of integrity, and be motivated to incorporate best practices into the organizational structure.

Ability to take initiative to plan, organize, coordinate and perform work in various situations when numerous and diverse demands are involved.

Ability to compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results in a concise format.

Ability to collaborate and work effectively within a diverse community and willingness to contribute to a team effort.

Ability to work independently and follow through on assignments.

Ability to read code and program in a variety of languages that may include PL/SQL, Java, C++, and shell scripting languages.

Ability to utilize web technologies that may include HTML, XML, scripting, and style sheets.

Ability to work in a technical support role, and to convey technical information to technical and non-technical users.

Experience leading cross-functional teams and projects to drive business improvements

Demonstrated knowledge in ERP-related functional modules (e.g. Workday: FIN, HCM, SIS)

Demonstrated proficiency in configuration and functional set ups for ERP systems

Demonstrated domain knowledge of enterprise-wide ERP-related business and technical process

Demonstrated experience in developing solutions as a software developer

Proficient with eliciting ERP integration requirements.

Salary Range:

$90,000 - $96,816 annually
