Director of Student Recruitment & Outreach

Duties of Position: Responsible for the development and implementation of the College’s comprehensive outreach and recruitment programs to generate enrollment. The Director is also responsible for the day-to-day management of the Admissions Outreach department and provides leadership and supervision for department staff.

Administers the college admissions outreach program in collaboration with the operations manager, outreach team members, marketing services, faculty and other related offices. Leads development of the college’s recruitment outreach plan and coordinates the implementation of the plan to enhance enrollment.

Is a key member of the College’s strategic enrollment team, operations council and other related shared government teams, as needed.

Responsible for the fiscal management of the department’s operating budget including forecasting expenditures, maintaining records and linking objectives to the annual budget process.

Assess, support, promote and enforce office operating practices and standards. Oversee the development of new processes and procedures for Admissions Outreach as needed.

Works closely with the Academic Deans, faculty program coordinators and marketing services team on new and continuing academic programs to provide student recruiting and enrollment support.

Manages the TargetX/Salesforce CRM Admissions Outreach portion for the department in conjunction with the Operations Manager and CRM Coordinator. Leverage product to enhance student communications and the enrollment experience.

Oversees the Admissions Outreach team including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling and annual evaluations.

Work closely with Marketing Services and Operations Manager to maintain admissions outreach information on the Harper College website and student portal.

Maintain proficiency with student information system and lead/support staff daily in these functions.

Leverage’s enrollment and admissions dashboards and daily reports to conduct data analysis for proper strategic planning to meet or exceed assigned departmental goals. Provides supervisor with monthly updates on departmental goals.

Develops and implements enrollment strategies in collaboration with other areas of the college. Manages the planning functions of the Admission’s Outreach Office. Build and maintain partnerships between Admissions Outreach and key internal partners including the Testing Center, the One Stop, the International Student Office, Registrar’s Office, Adult Education Department, ESL Department, University Center, Marketing Services, Scholarship ad Financial Assistance Office, Workforce Solutions, Continuing Education, Academic Affairs, Student Development, Student Affairs and Information Technology.

Directs articulation efforts on an ongoing basis with area high schools and local business and industry. Develops and implements relationship-building initiatives with area high schools and local businesses.

Collaborates with the Director of Student Finance in leveraging the College’s institutional aid to optimize enrollment.

Work closely with Harper College remote campus locations to provide recruiting and admissions support as needed. Develop recruitment plan to optimize enrollment potential at these locations.

Conducts research and prepares data for planning purposes, as well as for various College office and external agencies, upon appropriate request.

Act as the “Public” face of the Admissions Outreach office, making presentations at on and off campus events.

Keeps abreast of relevant local, regional and national issues and developments. Develop and maintain and understanding of the Harper College market and competitive forces that could prevent the meeting of admissions goals.

Assumes other duties as delegated or assigned by the Associate Provost of Enrollment Services

Educational Requirements: Master’s degree in higher education, marketing, communications, business, student personnel or other related area or equivalent experience.

Experience Requirements: Three years directly related experience in admissions, outreach, marketing or sales required. Must possess strong oral, written and interpersonal skills. Two years of prior management experience necessary. Prefer progressively responsible experience in prior positions. Familiarity of community colleges is desired.
