The Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a full timeSenior Research Program Coordinator. We are a dynamic physician researcher group working on studies related to infection prevention, diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship in the healthcare setting. Much of the work is implementation based, and involves interacting with nurses, physicians and other healthcare workers, in addition to scheduling, coordination, writing and report preparation. May include day –to –day oversight of research assistants and/or students. May involve occasional travel to other sites where studies are being implemented (e.g. other hospitals in MD) with parking/mileage/travel reimbursement.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepares IRB submissions, annual renewal requests and amendments.
- Prepares progress reports for funders.
- Implements and coordinates research studies.
- Anticipates problems, and solves through appropriate interactions and discussions with PIs. Collaborates and corresponds with Hopkins faculty and outside investigators.
- Participates in key tasks such as literature reviews and synthesis.
- Participates in manuscript writing such as drafting methods and results sections, summarizing results, preparing tables, charts, figures, use citation manager for references according to journal style. Directs manuscripts through all phases of the submission, review, revision, and re-submission process through publication.
- Participates in grant proposal preparation; drafting and editing research strategy sections under guidance of PI, preparing tables, charts, figures, writing, editing and assembly.
- Participates in Powerpoint presentation preparation e.g. summarizing information, graphs, figures, slides.
- Interviews healthcare workers including nurses and physicians, as part of research protocols, good verbal and written communication skills.
- Explores publication venues for manuscript submissions.
Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, health science, health information systems or related field.
- A minimum of three years related experience.
- Additional education may substitute for some experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s in epidemiology, biostatics, public health or related discipline or equivalent.
- Experience in a healthcare setting.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interviewing techniques.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks, detail oriented, self-motivated, strong interpersonal skills, ability to use personal computer.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; database and spreadsheet knowledge.
- Ability to use reference management software (E.g. Zotero, refworks) or willingness to learn.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 30 undergraduate degree credits (semester hours) or 18 graduate degree credits may substitute for one year of experience. Additional related experience may substitute for the required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
