The Institute for NanoBio Technology seeks aResearch Technologist who will perform laboratory tests and equipment maintenance by following established protocols or with appropriate instruction. This role will establish protocols for new techniques/methods, assist and coordinate financial and administrative activities for laboratory and with financial staff as well as train new laboratory members and facilitates productive research progress.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the upkeep of laboratory, including ordering and inventory management of laboratory supplies and reagents as well as equipment maintenance
  • Performs and assists with laboratory experiments, including quantitative microscopy, work with microfluidic devices and assays. Learns techniques developed in the research group from experienced group members
  • Trains new group members, including postdocs and graduate students, in basic laboratory skills
  • Manages lab documents, including standard protocols, reagent lists, safety forms, data storage, and auxiliary documents for research proposals (e.g. facilities)
  • Analyzes the experimental data and prepares figures and tables using Adobe Illustrator, ImageJ or Python/Matlab
  • Coordinates with financial staff to reconcile and track lab purchases. Assists in preliminary review of accounts in preparation of quarterly review
  • Drafts and proofreads sections of project reports

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or related field.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, physics, biochemistry preferred.
  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred.
  • Related research experience in biomaterials, analytical biochemistry, spectroscopy is preferred.
  • Prior experience with fluorescence microscopy, and image analysis in ImageJ/Python and statistical analysis is preferred.
  • Strong writing, proofreading and communication skills are preferred.
