The Mugnier and Gilman labs within the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seek a part-timeResearch Technologist. Our labs study Trypanosoma cruzi, the protozoan parasite that causes Chagas disease.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Primary duties and responsibilities of the job will include:

  • Management of a large sample collection, including receiving and organizing shipments of samples.
  • Various molecular biological, immunological and tissue culture techniques, including PCR, ELISA, western blot, and immunofluorescence.
  • The applicant will be expected to work independently, potentially on his or her own project.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry or a related field of science required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some related post-undergraduate work experience preferred. Some experience with standard molecular biology techniques (DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, cloning, etc.).

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to physically complete laboratory tasks proficiently, and be comfortable working with small animals.
  • Some light lifting when performing laboratory tasks may be required.
