The Elementary Special Education Department of Providence College is seeking a skilled Visiting Instructor/Visiting Assistant Professor of K-6 Literacy. Essential Duties
Position responsibilities include: 1) Teaching undergraduate and graduate K-6 literacy methods courses, and 2) Supervising student teachers and literacy field experiences. We are looking for professionals with expertise in the science of reading, work with multilingual learners and students with dyslexia, and commitments to inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive practices.

Experience teaching literacy education (K-6) courses at the university or college level and a minimum of three years teaching grades K-6 are required (urban experience preferred).

Education and Experience Required
Preference is given to applicants with a Ph.D. or Ed.D. but ABD and M.Ed. candidates will be considered. A strong commitment to inclusive undergraduate education, and the ability to work in a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty is required.

The teaching load is 12 credits a semester for the 2021-2022 academic school year. The successful candidate will also contribute to service such as advising undergraduate students and working with PC allies, local and regional communities, and professional organizations. The position includes health or dental insurance benefits, and the salary is competitive. This position is for a one-year renewable contract. Rank determined by experience and level of education.
