The Department of English at Arizona State University invites applications for a Lecturer position in Writing Programs with an anticipated start date of January 2022. This is a full-time, benefits-eligible appointment made on an academic year basis (Aug 16 – May 15).  Subsequent academic year renewals (Aug. 16 to May 15) are contingent upon satisfactory performance, availability of resources, and the needs of the unit.

 

Essential Functions of the job: 

The successful candidate will be expected to:  

  • Teach undergraduatestudents in Writing Programs courses (4-4 teaching load)
  • Contributeto curriculum development and faculty development in Writing Programs 
  • Engage in professional, university, and community service or professional development, as appropriate

 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • D. in Rhetoric and Compositionor related discipline in hand by the time of appointment 
  • Evidence of strong commitment to teaching

 

Desired Qualifications:  

  • Theoretical groundingin writing studies and/or rhetorical studies pedagogy; area of specialty is open 
  • Experience teaching in-person and inonline or hybrid formats 
  • Evidence of participation in rhetoric/composition conferences and/or other professional development
  • At leastfive years of experience teaching writing at the college level 
  • Demonstratedsuccess teaching underrepresented student populations and/or supporting diverse communities 
  • Training and/or experience in writing program administration
