The Assistant Dean of the Graduate School reports directly to the Dean of the Graduate School and oversees all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Graduate School, including data management and analysis, information distribution, budget management, and office operations. This individual will work with the Dean to develop a strong University-wide graduate student culture based on Xavier’s mission, vision, and values.

The Assistant Dean works closely with all graduate program directors to foster and promote excellence at the graduate level in academic quality, program success, graduate enrollment, student retention, and satisfaction. The Assistant Dean works with the College Deans, Program Directors, and Chairs to develop recommendations to the DGS for policies and procedures that apply to graduate programs, coordinate programs and efforts that reach across multiple graduate programs, and oversee efforts to improve the overall graduate student experience at Xavier.

Other key responsibilities:

  • Graduate program marketing, recruitment, and enrollment support, working closely with the Office of Marketing Communications and external organizations with which Xavier partners.
  • New graduate program creation.
  • Supervise the staff and office operations of the Graduate School.
  • Work closely with Program Directors to address problems, barriers, and systemic deficiencies that inhibit the delivery of excellent programs and services to our graduate students.
  • Collaborate with College Deans, Program Directors, and Chairs to improve the quality of the overall graduate student experience at Xavier, including coordination of graduate programs.
  • Act as a representative for the Office of the Graduate School to various University offices as well as other University divisions or College-level offices that support our graduate students.


Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or above
  • 5-10 years of work related experience
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Highly organized and able to work independently
  • Demonstrate a fundamental respect for others and their work
