Job Summary:
This pool has been established to accept applications for openings for part-time instructors that may arise throughout the year. Teach professional-technical courses in the field of Early Childhood Education.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Child Development, Human Development and Family Sciences, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
Demonstrated commitment to student-centered principals and an understanding of the community college mission.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals, including faculty, staff and students.
Demonstrate a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer recent college teaching experience, working knowledge of computer software and Learning Management Systems. Experience with different modalities of instruction, including synchronous and asynchronous online learning. Knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following areas: Reggio-Inspired curriculum approach, PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports), Infant Toddler Curriculum and group care, Cultural Sensitivity, Reflective Curriculum and Loose Parts. Recent experience working in early childhood classrooms. Proficiency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a classroom setting with minimial exposure to safety hazards.
Essential Duties:
Teach early education and development classes.
Prepare and develop materials for classes utilizing approved course outcomes.
Keep abreast of development in subject area and educational technology, innovative teaching techniques, and continuously strive for professional improvement.
Establish and maintain opportunities for reasonable and consistent out-of-class contact with students.
Exemplify and promote work within the mission of LBCC .
Work effectively with students and staff of various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds and ages. Promote both a classroom environment and a curriculum of equity and inclusivity.
Interact with supervisors, colleagues, and staff as part of a team.
Participate as assigned in department and advisory meetings.
