Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities
General duties also include initial assessment, individual psychotherapy, group psychotherapy, crisis work, trainee supervision, and consultation with university faculty and staff. The positions may require working at least one evening per week. Minimum Hiring Standards
Doctorate degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. ABD in psychology also permitted with expectation of completed degree within one year of hire date. Completion of a supervised APA accredited internship. Ability to work in a fast pace high demand clinical setting with students presenting in acute distress. Evidence of strong theoretical base informing clinical practice in both group and individual therapy. The position also requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, strong interpersonal skills, experience with brief psychotherapy, group therapy, evidence of multicultural competence and experience working with diverse populations, and licensed or license eligible in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Preferred Hiring Standards
Preference will be given to candidates who have experience or interest in
psychoeducational groups for students (e.g. Anxiety, Stress management, Distress tolerance).
