Department Summary
University Counseling Services (UCS) is a department integrated with University Health Services in the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management. UCS provides single-session intervention; short term, focused individual therapy; group therapy; consultation; education and prevention outreach; and referral services to university students. Most psychological services are covered by the mandatory health fee. University Counseling Services also provides consultation to and educational programs for faculty and staff.
Position Summary
The purpose of this temporary position is to assess, diagnose, provide counseling/therapy and crisis intervention to, and make case disposition decisions about student clients. May provide other services including consultation to faculty/staff and parents/families, educational and prevention programming, supervision and training of graduate trainees or employees based on department needs.
Reports to the Director, Associate Director, an Assistant Director.; collaborates with department clinical staff and trainees and administrative staff.
This position may be renewed for a second year based on funding, space, and clinical considerations and performance of the Interim Staff Psychologist. However, a second-year reappointment is not guaranteed.
Minimum Requirements - Ph.D. or Psy.D.in clinical or counseling psychology. All degree
requirements must be complete prior to start date.
- Experience with range of clinical issues, ranging from
developmental issues to more serious psychopathology.
- Experience providing short term therapy.
- PhD applicants must be licensed or license eligible by the
Oregon Board of Psychology; if unlicensed, candidate must be
eligible for a Board approved residency contract.
Special Qualifications: - Position requires successful completion of a criminal
background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare
Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on
the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System
of Award Management (SAM)
- Must be in compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis
screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and
other immunization requirements.
Professional Competencies - Demonstrated multicultural competence and commitment to
multicultural organizational development.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications - Doctorate earned from APA-accredited programs and/or doctoral
internships completed at APA-accredited internship
programs.
- Previous experience providing psychological services in a
college setting.
