Director of Residential Life and Housing at the NSU Ft. Lauderdale Campus

Nova Southeastern University invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Director of Residential Life and Housing at the Nova Southeastern University Ft. Lauderdale Campus.

We are seeking a dynamic, high-energy, student-centered professional committed to formulating and shaping a residential culture that provides a safe, developmental and fulfilling experience for our residential population!

Reporting to the Assistant Dean for Student Services, this professional creates the vision and develops the culture of the Residential Life and Housing program; furthers the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the University in the direct supervision of full-time and graduate assistant staff. This is a high student contact position and requires enthusiasm for working with undergraduates and a commitment to the community concept.

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Responsible for ensuring the Office of Residential Life and Housing has a clear vision, goals, and a basis of standard operating procedures to enhance the student living environment, student safety, student development and training, fiscal solvency, and long-term facility management.
  2. Formulates, recommends, implements, and evaluates policies, procedures, programs, processes, and systems within the office to ensure that residents have high quality facilities and services.
  3. Partners across the university to foster student success and a university community while leveraging partnerships and marketing strategies to meet occupancy, revenue and engagement goals.
  4. Develops and administers related budgets, including revenue forecasting, planning, and monitoring of expenses.
  5. In conjunction with the university chief judicial officer, manages daily residential judicial processes including training of staff on the educational conduct process.
  6. Oversees the selection, supervision, training and evaluation of professional and paraprofessional staff members.
  7. Works pro-actively to assist students experiencing personal difficulties and makes appropriate referrals to University resources to foster engagement and retention.
  8. Manages and participates in an on-call rotation to provide crisis management for medical, psychological and other emergencies; serves on campus-wide planning groups for response to emergencies; supports university response to campus-wide emergency situations.
  9. Serves the University on various committees.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

This position requires a Master’s degree, five (5) year's of professional experience,
experience supervising full-time staff; experience leading the vision and development of student experiences.
