Nova Southeastern University invites inquiries, nominations, and applications for the position of Assistant Director for Housing Services and Operations at the Nova Southeastern University Ft. Lauderdale Campus.

We are seeking a dynamic, high-energy, student-centered professional committed to supporting a residential culture that provides a safe, developmental and fulfilling experience for our residential population!

Reporting to the Director of Residential Life and Housing, the Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the overall mission and direction for student housing; coordinates and oversees maintenance and facilities partnership, camps & conferences, housing services, and general marketing and communications This is a high student contact position and requires enthusiasm for working with undergraduates and a commitment to the community concept.

This professional creates the vision and develops the culture of the Residential Life and Housing program; furthers the mission of the Division of Student Affairs and the University in the direct supervision of full-time and graduate assistant staff. 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Oversees student residential facilities and maintenance operations; assists in the management of long-term maintenance, renovation and construction plans; collaborates with Facilities Management and Physical Plant on day-to-day maintenance issues; ensures a high level of communication with Area Coordinators regarding facility issues.
  2. Responsible for establishing and implementing a protocol for the opening and closing of the residence halls each semester; manages maintenance requests, custodial service scheduling, damage assessment & billing, and inventory of spaces year-round.
  3. Provides leadership and guidance for Residential Life & Housing marketing initiatives, including, presentations to prospective students and parents, multiple print publications, social media presence and website.
  4. Oversees revenue generating summer camps and conferences program; collaborates with NSU affiliated residential conferences; meets with clients and potential clients to recruit conferences, negotiates contractual agreements with clients; develops pricing and contracts with Dining Services, OIIT, Business Services, and Facilities to provide conference support.
  5. Serves a member of senior leadership on-call rotation; provides coordination, oversight and leadership for facilities related crisis response protocols for staff and residents; ensures facilities and operations emergency protocols are up to date and easily accessible.
  6. Provides training to key staff members in the area of facilities and operational crisis and emergency response; represents the department at the University's Crisis Response Task Force and the University's Safety Committee.
  7. Works collaboratively to ensure strong communication and coordination amongst all facets of office operations; facilitates communication with the office and students.

This position requires a bachelor’s degree, two (2) year's of professional experience,
experience with facilities management, operations, camps, conferences, and business services in a university/college setting.
