The Department of Psychology at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning fall 2022. We seek applicants with expertise in applied and/or translational research focused on diversity/race/social justice (open area). This position is ideal for an innovative teacher who wishes to include undergraduate collaborators in a high-quality research program. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or expect to complete their Ph.D. by September, 2022 in a relevant field, a strong record of research scholarship, and experience teaching undergraduates.  Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate inclusive pedagogical practices that advance SCU goals of diversity and equity, and provide evidence of experience teaching and mentoring a diverse population of undergraduate students. The candidate should be prepared to teach Research Methods, Statistics or Introductory Psychology, as well as additional courses in her/his/their area of expertise. Candidates should also have a strong program of research that has the potential to incorporate undergraduates as research assistants.  This search is part of a cluster hire in Race, Inequality, and Social Justice taking place in seven departments in the College of Arts and Sciences.

Santa Clara is a private, Jesuit, Catholic university located in the heart of California’s Silicon Valley. Faculty are teaching scholars who balance a commitment to quality teaching with active programs of research and creative scholarship. Ideal candidates should therefore demonstrate not only potential for excellent undergraduate teaching, but also promise in sustained research and scholarly publication, and service to the department, college or university, as well as an understanding and support of the University’s mission and goals. 

The successful candidate will teach six undergraduate courses per year on the quarter system, will be expected to successfully develop a research agenda that leads to peer-reviewed publications and will provide service to the department, College and University, as appropriate to rank.
