Recruiting Specialist

About Northeastern:
Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and the recognized leader in experience-driven lifelong learning. Our world-renowned experiential approach empowers our students, faculty, alumni, and partners to create impact far beyond the confines of discipline, degree, and campus.

Our locations—in Boston; Charlotte, North Carolina; London; Portland, Maine; San Francisco; Seattle; Silicon Valley; Toronto; Vancouver; and the Massachusetts communities of Burlington and Nahant—are nodes in our growing global university system. Through this network, we expand opportunities for flexible, student-centered learning and collaborative, solutions-focused research.

Northeastern's comprehensive array of undergraduate and graduate programs— in a variety of on-campus and online formats—lead to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Among these, we offer more than 195 multi-discipline majors and degrees designed to prepare students for purposeful lives and careers.

About the Opportunity:

Responsibilities:
The Recruiting Specialist is a member of the Admissions team in the Graduate School of Engineering, reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions. The Recruiting Specialist has responsibility for assisting with the admissions pipeline process and activities (driving inquiries to application) for the graduate engineering programs in the College of Engineering, which include MS and PhD programs. The Graduate Recruiting Specialist participates in and supports the execution of pipeline support activities which include regular communication with inquiry and pre-application populations and responding to specific inquiries. The Recruiting Specialist will also participate in processing and reviewing applications, tracking decisions, and updating student records in the web-based application system (ApplyYourself, Connect and SalesForce). The Recruiting Specialist will participate in recruiting activities throughout the year both locally and those which may require travel, including corporate on-site visits and information sessions; graduate school fairs and forums; and university events. In addition, the Specialist will participate in implementing on- and off-campus recruiting and yield events including information sessions and open houses for admitted candidates. Aggressive and consistent admissions efforts are essential to increase the quantity and quality of admitted students. Generating lots of interest and leads is meaningless without consistent follow-through and moving applicants through the pipeline to application. In addition, the College of Engineering is committed to raising visibility by improving its position in the engineering school rankings. The efforts of the Graduate Recruiting Specialist will be critical in this regard.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required, MS or MBA preferred such as a graduate degree in higher education administration. At least three years' experience with preference given to candidates who have experience in graduate admission and recruiting. Candidates must demonstrate a professional presence and maturity in dealing with a variety of audiences, external and internal to the university. Excellent interpersonal, oral presentation, and written communication skills are critical for success. Expertise in word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, and database management. Strong project management/organizational skills with attention to detail, commitment to quality, and ability to balance multiple demands from demanding constituencies. Creativity, positive can-do attitude, flexibility, initiative, and ability to function effectively as member of a team. Responsive to feedback and committed to continuous improvement. Willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends, as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Salary Grade:
10
