About the Opportunity:
The Assistant Director will support the housing operations of Off Campus Housing and Support Services (OCHSS), which supports Northeastern University learners living off campus or beyond Boston while in class, on co-op, and/or participating in co-curricular beyond Boston experiences. The Assistant Director is an integral part of the OCHSS team and will be responsible for the support of off-campus housing operations in Boston and beyond, advising and services,
and new housing sourcing beyond Boston.

Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of this role are intended to support growing mobility of Northeastern students and a successful off-campus experience.

The Assistant Director assists in advising undergraduate, graduate and international students in their search for off-campus housing, respond to daily inquiries from students, prospective students, parents, and university offices/personnel, as well as provide individual customer support and assistance related to housing. The Assistant Director will provide counseling and advocacy on tenant rights and responsibilities and make referrals to appropriate city agencies and resources. Extensive understand of renter's rights, Massachusetts state laws and Boston area expectations will be learned and applied in the role. The Assistant Director will support the efforts of the Assistant Director of Programming and Education in the planning, implementation and marketing of educational workshops and programs related to housing, as well as presentations to co-op classes, community initiatives and programs sponsored by the office and the University.

The Assistant Director will be responsible for the housing support services for Northeastern learners participating in Northeastern experiences beyond Boston, including co-op and other co-curricular experiences. Beyond Boston housing responsibilities will include advising, move-in/move-out transitions, student outreach throughout the semester, and advertising and outreach to co-op students. It will include relationship building with beyond Boston housing partners and assisting with identifying new Northeastern leased housing options beyond Boston. Programming responsibilities will include supporting the Assistant Director of Programming and Education in the scheduling, planning and execution of beyond Boston housing workshops and programs. Some travel to assist Associate Director of Housing with beyond Boston housing locations and programming may be required.

The Assistant Director will support and report to the Associate Director of Housing and Director of OCHSS and will collaborate with the offices of Student Affairs, Housing, Alumni Relations, Employer Engagement and Career Design, City and Community Engagement, Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution and other University departments to support the work of OCHSS.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Student Personnel or related field, Masters preferred.
3-5 years of work experience in student affairs, housing and/or related field.
Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories.
Strong customer service focus, communication, writing skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience working in a diverse, fast-paced, student-centered service environment.
Innovative problem-solving ability.
Well-developed interpersonal and presentation/public speaking skills.
Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and work positively and productively with parents, faculty, staff and community members.
Good working knowledge of MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and Publisher), Adobe Suite, Social Media, and web-based marketing programs.
Must be available to work some nights, weekends, and holiday coverage as needed.
Travel may be required.
