Position Summary:
Job Summary The Director of Athletic Communications reports to the Director of Athletics. The primary responsibility of the position is to manage all facets of the department's athletics communication needs in concert with the mission of the university. Specific Responsibilities
  • Department liaison to campus marketing and communications and collaborate with campus departments and other constituents.
  • Direct all athletics communications, including but not limited to news releases, features, gameday operations, statistics collection and management, publications, photography, social media, and creative content.
  • Manage the athletics website (suriverhawks.com) and social media platforms.
  • Stay abreast of and conduct research to support content strategies, post daily content to social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.,
  • Responsible for programming and production of short-form video content for athletics website and social media pages.
  • Responsible for gameday operations of stream and video production systems that include Blueframe, Spiddieo, Hudl and additional software.
  • Serve as a member of Hall of Fame committee and provide communications support, as needed.
  • Supervision of athletic communications staff and student workers.
  • Coordinate in-game social initiatives, fan experience programming; and other duties as assigned.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills as well as a proficiency in graphic design and recording and editing video, preferred.

    Required Qualifications:
    Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExcellent speaking and writing skills, demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and the ability to be a well-organized self-starter; ability to set priorities and advocate team concepts; ability to work effectively with diverse groups of constituents. Strong organizational, verbal written and interpersonal skills including a good sense of humor. Familiarity with Stat Crew, Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as desktop publishing and Internet. Sports knowledge essential. EducationBachelor’s Degree is required. ExperienceMinimum 2 years of experience in a collegiate sports information setting required. Additional RequirementsThis position requires a valid driver’s license, and the ability to drive and qualify under the university’s insurance carrier when driving a university and/or leased vehicle.
    Physical Demand Position requires the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time. Position requires the ability to move about the campus. Position requires the ability to talk and to hear instruction. Position requires occasional manual dexterity and the ability to use fingers, hands, and arms to feel, handle, and reach. Position requires occasional stooping, crouching, and bending. Position requires the ability to occasionally lift to 10 pounds. Working conditions are primarily indoor, with some outdoor work required. In addition to normal office environment, this position requires the ability to walk and carry items to press box atop stadium and to other athletic fields; occasional travel to off­ site conferences or sporting events.
