Job Description

Reporting to the AVP of Enrollment Management and Director of University Scholarships and Financial Aid, the Director of University Scholarships is responsible for the management of institutional and external scholarships, policies, and procedures to serve the university’s goals and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, policies and statutes. The Director serves as the compliance officer for scholarships and reports to the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management & Director of University Scholarships and Financial Aid.
The Director of University Scholarships is responsible for the supervision and management of a comprehensive and compliant scholarship program grounded in fair and equitable distribution of student financial assistance to eligible applicants utilizing innovative delivery and management strategies. The Director is expected to participate in management by outcomes, to facilitate proactive leadership as a senior member of the University Scholarships and Financial Aid team, and to anticipate and to respond appropriately to external challenges and regulatory changes. The incumbent provides overall leadership developing a strategic and effective plan and vision in the administration of all scholarship programs.
This position works closely and collaboratively with the leadership team for University Scholarships and Financial Aid to achieve a strategic, student-centered approach in support of the university’s mission. The director reviews and establishes scholarship policy to minimize risk but maximize enrollment results: develops and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and parents; ensures the timely delivery of scholarships to students in an atmosphere of superior customer service; and oversees the fiscal stewardship accountability of scholarship programs.
The Director of University Scholarships establishes appropriate measures for success, innovative strategies, along with efficient and timely delivery of financial aid. This position collaborates with the university community and promotes effective, efficient and compliant scholarship policies and procedures to all internal and external university constituencies.

Required Qualifications

Must possess bachelor’s degree with demonstrated progressive financial aid-related experience, demonstrated leadership skills, and communication skills. Must possess considerable comprehensive knowledge and understanding of contemporary best practices in scholarship management and understanding of financial aid regulations. Must possess a demonstrated record of excellence in customer service. Must reflect significant experience in fiscal accountability in funds management. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and equal opportunity. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines are required. Demonstrated employment history of working collaboratively with academic and administrative areas as well as understanding of technological infrastructure of financial aid processes.

Preferred Qualifications

Significant work experience in progressively responsible positions in Scholarships and Financial Aid of no less than five years. Experience with a scholarship management and financial aid system. Demonstrated ability to use data analytics to support and to review business decisions.
