The Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health invites applications for the position of Bloomberg Centennial Professor and Chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management.

The Department of Health Policy and Management is an interdisciplinary department dedicated to advancing health and social policies to protect health and wellbeing at the population level; to developing strategies to improve equity, access, financing, organization, and delivery of preventive and curative health services; and to identifying approaches for enhancing the effectiveness and efficiency of the public health and health care systems to address the most pressing challenges in public health and medicine.

The Department’s robust educational initiatives offer a broad spectrum of doctoral and master’s degrees and certificates in areas including health leadership and management and health and social policy with focused programs in health services research, health economics, and bioethics. The Department has 80 full-time faculty, 350 doctoral and master’s students, and diverse research and practice activities organized through 16 research centers and institutes. Most centers are highly interdisciplinary, and many span multiple units within the University.

The Bloomberg School of Public Health is the top ranked public health school in the country with ten departments, 840 primary faculty and nearly 3,000 graduate-level students. The School is located on the Johns Hopkins University East Baltimore medical campus. Both the East Baltimore campus and the broader University present a collaborative and highly interactive environment with a superb research infrastructure.

The successful applicant will possess an outstanding record of academic and research accomplishment, an active grant-funded research portfolio, demonstrated leadership and administrative abilities, and a compelling vision for the impact of the Department on the public’s health in terms of education, research, and practice.

Applications should include 1) curriculum vitae; 2) statement of academic interest and vision of leadership; and 3) statement of demonstrated commitment to the principles of inclusion, diversity, anti-racism, and equity (IDARE) in scholarship, teaching, policy, and practice, and ways to continue to promote and advance these principles in their leadership of the Department. Review of candidates will begin in August 2021. Please direct all questions about this search to Susan Williams, Administrative Specialist, at swilli94@jhu.edu .
