Job Summary

The position exists to provide transportation, parking and commuter access services to the faculty, staff, students and visitors to the University of Colorado-Boulder. This position is an enforcement position and is separate from the events team. This position will operate a University vehicle.

Parking Services (PS) is a department within the Auxiliary Services (http://www.colorado.edu/auxiliaryservices/)unit of Finance and Business Strategy (http://www.colorado.edu/fbs/) (FBS) at the University of Colorado Boulder. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
  • Patrol University grounds for parking infractions and other issues that impede ingress and egress routes. This includes reviewing parking credentials and issuing citations.
  • Supervise student and variable staff by offering direction with enforcement rules and policies. This includes providing assistance as necessary with enforcement questions as well as training students and variable staff how to apply enforcement rules and policies.
  • Setup and maintain equipment for special events. This includes any non-routine enforcement for events where the incumbent will assist with the traffic direction, payment collection, or the verification of VIP credentials.
  • Field questions and comments from campus constituents and guests regarding parking regulations. The incumbent is also responsible for conveying protocols and personnel assignments for special events. In addition, the incumbent will also communicate with vehicle owners regarding infractions and suggested remedies. The incumbent will also work with appropriate campus resources to resolve issues beyond their control.
  • Respond to emergent needs as directed by department needs. This may also include collaboration with University Police to facilitate safety concerns for the campus and public good.


What You Should Know
Work schedule is Wed-Friday, 7:45am-6:15pm and Saturdays, 12pm-10:30pm.

What We Require

  • Two years of work experience in the occupational field or specialized subject area of the work assigned to the job.
  • Two years of college, university, or non-correspondence school coursework may substitute for the required experience.
  • This position requires a valid Colorado driver's license (no special endorsements needed).


What We Would Like You To Have
  • Basic working knowledge of computer use, such as navigating email and use of basic computer-based reports. Basic working knowledge of the use of smartphones and smartphone applications and basic two-way radios.
  • Must have the ability to confront the public in direct ways, without creating a hostile environment, with an ability to de-escalate a situation.
  • Must be able to write reports and have good oral and written communication skills to train, organize, educate and supervise.
  • Experience working in a larger (20,000+ student population) university environment.
  • Experience working in a modern, technology-driven parking program with License Plate Recognition technology and the application of citation issuance through the application of smartphone technology.
