Williams College is pleased to announce an opening for our Williamstown Elementary School (WES) Coordinator position in the Center for Learning in Action (CLiA). This is a part-time (30 hours/week), academic year (10-month), regular appointment.

The WES Coordinator manages the Classroom Help, Big Sib, and Adventures in Learning programs at Williamstown Elementary School. The position assists in creating opportunities for Williams College students to participate in meaningful community engagement and experiential education opportunities at WES. Serving as an integral component of CLiA’s local education outreach, the Coordinator oversees programs, pilots, projects, and initiatives liaising with Williams’ faculty, staff, student groups, and individual students who seek to engage in volunteer and academic opportunities in partnership with Williamstown Elementary School.

The Coordinator utilizes targeted outreach to recruit a diverse group of students to participate in volunteer and paid programs. Additionally, communication skills are critical across a variety of constituencies including WES staff, the elementary student body, the larger community, and Williams, to navigate support of WES Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging goals, especially as those goals intersect with Williams’ partnership and DEI efforts.


Responsibilities

  • Advise and facilitate Student Leaders to build connections with WES staff, administration as well as Williams students working across programs at WES
  • Organize and lead orientation and training sessions for Williams students
  • Recruit, hire, place, observe, approve time, and supervise student employees working with the Classroom Help program at WES
  • Coordinate and facilitate student volunteer programs including Big Sib and Adventures in Learning including recruiting, scheduling, and observing
  • Communicate and collaborate with Williamstown Elementary School administration, faculty, and student program leaders, to refine and ensure the success of programs
  • Liaise and advise Williams students, student groups, faculty, and staff who seek to engage in outreach with WES
  • Develop and maintain connections with other schools and community partners for program ideas and coordination
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least two years of experience in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and K-12 teaching experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff
  • Organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to travel to schools, transport supplies, and supervise K-6 students in a classroom environment
  • Supervisory experience with K-12 students or undergraduates, directing and observing participation and growth in learning
