The OPT for health lab is seeking a part-time research assistant with interest in qualitative research. The ACTIVATE study is a recently completed behavioral clinical trial examining the preliminary efficacy, feasibility, and acceptability of a low touch weight loss program designed specifically for young men. As part of this trial, in-depth interviews were conducted with intervention participants regarding their experience and preferences. Under the supervision of trial PI and Student Investigator (Dr. Jessica LaRose and Jean Reading) this individual will be responsible for coding these qualitative data. The position will consist of coding transcripts using qualitative software (NVivo), attending coder trainings and meetings, and other related tasks (e.g., transcript cleaning). All meetings will be held remotely. Training will be provided by the student investigator who has extensive experience in qualitative research methods. The coder will be expected to code data according to the coding dictionary, make memos/notes, ask questions, and attend weekly coder meetings. Position is hourly, with an average of 6-8 hours / week anticipated.

Required Qualifications
- Experience working in research, preferably in the health sciences
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Experience working collaboratively in a diverse team setting
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skills
- High school degree/ GED or higher
- Strong computer technology skills
- Ability to make decisions and complete tasks independently

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with qualitative data
- Previous experience working on a qualitative research project
- Experience with qualitative data analysis software, preferably NVivo
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in psychology, public health, or related field preferred
