Assistant / Associate Professor (GI)
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine of the
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, FL invites
applicants to apply for a full-time academic oriented Assistant or
Associate Professor Faculty position in Gastrointestinal pathology.
The candidate will be required to sign out a second specialty
including GYN, Cyto, Pulmonary, Breast, Head and Neck, GU, Bone and
Soft Tissue pathology or have independent research funding. Job
duties include diagnostic sign out, attendance of relevant tumor
board and patient conferences, teaching medical students,
residents, fellows and other faculty academic productivity in the
form of peer publications This position is with the University of
Miami network of hospitals and clinics (UHealth System) and the
flagship county hospitals of Miami-Dade County Jackson Health
System. Academic rank, compensation, and appointment type will
be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Position requires an M.D. or D.O. degree, Board Certification in
Anatomic Pathology, and a fellowship in gastrointestinal pathology.
Other requirements are excellent communication skills, diagnostic
excellence, productive scholarship in the form of original peer
reviewed publications, and an interest in education.
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine is
subspecialized and works closely with the University of Miami
Sylvester Cancer Center in providing excellent patient care and is
an important member of the multidisciplinary Gastrointestinal Site
Disease Group. The GI service oversees a significant volume (about
20,000) of endoscopic esophagogastric and intestinal, hepatic, and
pancreatic biopsies and resections of the gastrointestinal,
hepatic, and pancreatobiliary systems in adults and children.
