Position Information

This is a full-time, temporary position.

** Successful candidates in these temporary appointments may be appointed from a few days up to one year depending on the assignment. Temporary appointments must end on or before the end of the fiscal year (June 30th of the following year), with the possibility of renewal.

Conditions of Employment

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

Duties

Under direct supervision of the AVP, Security and Compliance/ISO, the accessibility support assistant aids the ATI Coordinator in the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of accessibility projects concerning federal and state disability access laws pertaining to Section 508 technical standards for accessibility as well as CSU Accessible Technology Initiative and disability access policies and guidelines in support of the implementation of Executive Order 1111 (E.O. 1111). This incumbent handles the day-to-day clerical and administrative support functions for Security and Compliance, including, but are not limited to, supporting and coordinating calendaring, general office activities; preparing, drafting, and composing reports, and following up with the teams.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

High school program or its equivalent and at least one year of experience in an Information Technology compliance office environment

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree at 4-year college and served at least one year as a Student Assistant with work experience providing progressively responsible administrative support in an environment of similar complexity.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of university infrastructure, policies, and procedures or in an organization with similar complexity is required.
  • Thorough knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
  • General knowledge of principles, practices, and techniques of the Education system
  • General knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of procurement and requisitions, especially related to contracts
  • Knowledge in using office software, technology, and systems including but not limited to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PeopleSoft, and other standardized office equipment is required.
  • Ability to independently hand multiple work unit priorities and projects
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and improve IT programs and events. Conduct ongoing needs assessments and provide a full spectrum of administrative support
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships and work effectively both independently or as part of a team is required.
  • Ability to establish partnerships with campus constituents
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and provide exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to address department needs; take initiative to improve operations in a collaborative manner.

    Responsibilities

    50% Administrative Accessibility and Compliance Provide project assistance as needed to coordinate the evaluation of provided documentation for accessibility. Assists the ATI Coordinator in reviews and coordinates assessment of campus Information and Communication Technology (ICT) purchases requests to implement ATI procurement-related policies. Provides consultation on the web, instructional materials, and procurement-related issues to the campus community and the general public as needed. Assist ATI Coordinator in reviewing the submitted documentation for technology purchases. Engage in development and refine project initiation summaries, plans, schedules, and deliverables. Calculate project work estimations and deadlines. Coordinate with project clients and staff for the allocation of project resources and time frames. Monitor student assistance progress on project timelines and deliverables. Review the accessibility and security documentations before submission for accuracy. Develop work reports based on project timelines and invoices.

    40% Consultation, Collaboration, Support Consult and collaborate with functional and technical staff to document Security and Compliance business process. In collaboration with the ATi coordinator, documents approach to meet user needs and recommend optimal solutions. Provide assistance to support campus employees regarding any complaints. Assist the Security and Compliance team with developing training materials. Assist the Security and Compliance team with creating internal and external reports. Document assignment status as required by supervisor. Escalate problems or unexpected resource requirements. Apply general knowledge of requirements for accessibility compliance where appropriate. Provide assistance for any training and training material to other employees as needed and provide lead work direction to student assistants. Use available resources to maintain and enhance technical currency. Maintain and develop interpersonal skills. Assist with special projects as assigned on the I.T. project management software (Wrike). Update Compliance-related tasks and projects for Compliance Department. Perform administrative functions such as updating calendars and schedule meetings for Compliance and Security departments.
