Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of the position is to provide executive-level administrative support to the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement. This position requires a high level of analytical skill, independence, and initiative in execution and implementation. This position involves the performance of complex and confidential office duties that require sound judgment based on knowledge and experience. This is a highly visible position in which poise and professionalism are necessary. Duties also include coordinating travel arrangements, providing personnel administration and administering fiscal management, budget management, managing the office, and HR duties including overseeing the advertisement, recruitment and hiring of new positions, managing job applications and communicating with candidates and NCCU Human Resources. The Executive Assistant will work closely with senior university administrators, campus departments, and external and internal constituents. The position will also generate fund raising reports, presentations and proposals; coordinate major campus events for the division as well as provide administrative support to unit managers and other duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

Minimum Education/Experience:
High School diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation with an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience..All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Great interpersonal skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with a wide range of individuals in a high pressure environment. Ability to work independently with little to no supervision. Ability to take initiative and see project through. Ability to learn interpret and analyze information to make necessary decisions. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in problem solving. Ability to plan, prioritize and organize workflow. Ability to work flexible schedules. Team player who fosters atmosphere of cooperation within the unit and university community. Must have excellent computer skills; proficient in word, excel, PowerPoint, access and databases. Must exemplify high standards of conduct while performing duties as assigned. Must have strong editing skills.
