About the Position:
University Advancement serves Cal State Fullerton by building and strengthening relationships with the communities we serve to encourage advocacy, investment and support of the University, its mission, goals and programs in support of student and alumni success. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as the Senior Director, Advancement Services and Operations. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

The Senior Director, Advancement Services and Operations is responsible for day-to-day operations, planning, policy/guidelines, management needs and resources in the Advancement Services department. Provides leadership to the Advancement Services and Operations team and strategic implementation on a macro level of the requirements needed to fulfill the department's important role both within Central Development and interacting with other vested internal and external stakeholders. Manages gift accounting, recording and receipting, and preparation of various fundraising and engagement reporting functions. Works as part of a team to establish policies and procedures in regard to gift acceptance functions in University Advancement including the recording and receipting of donors, policies and compliance reports to the Vice President and the Chancellor's Office. Provides oversight of data and records integrity efforts for the division. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or universit. Three to five years' direct experience working in a gift administration, sales or database environment with supervisory management experience. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting and the ability to understand CASE Reporting Standards, FASB, IRS Regulations, and other governing policies and procedures relating to the processing of charitable gifts. The ability to manage staff at a high level and direct projects and operations. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.


Preferred Qualifications:
A fundamental understanding of fundraising is preferred to perform the duties of the position. Specific experience with a fundraising database such as Blackbaud RE/NXT is helpful. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience is preferred. In addition, the manager must be adept with a PC and skilled in the use of Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, Access and Outlook.

Occasional early morning, evenings, and/or weekend hours to provide support to the development efforts. Must be available to work commencement weekend. Must be able to travel to off campus locations for events, programs, meetings and other activities as directed by supervisor.
