Biochemist/Molecular Biologist Tenure -Track Faculty

The Biology Department at Williams College, a premier liberal arts college with a long-standing tradition of excellence in the sciences, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin July 2022. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the intellectual vibrancy and diversity of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service, and who are committed to working effectively with a diverse student population.

We seek a biochemist/molecular biologist whose research complements our department’s existing strengths, incorporates state-of-the-art methods, and addresses questions of broad biological significance to cells, organisms, or evolution. Possible fields include (but are not limited to) nucleic acids research, membrane or lipid biology, and regulation of gene expression. The successful candidate will teach upper-level courses in their field of expertise, a metabolic biochemistry course, and our introductory course in cell/molecular biology. Normally, faculty members teach one course and two associated laboratory sections (or the equivalent) each semester and mentor undergraduate research projects. We anticipate that the person who fills this position will also participate in interdisciplinary programs in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology, and/or Bioinformatics, Genomics & Proteomics.

Qualifications

A dynamic research program that is attractive to extramural funding agencies and involves talented undergraduates is expected. Start-up funds and internal funding for research are available. A Ph.D., postdoctoral experience, and a strong research record are required. We anticipate an appointment at the beginning assistant professor level, although a more senior appointment may be possible under special circumstances.
