Position Summary:

This position performs advanced information technology project management of projects varying in size and scope that may span the entire University of Wisconsin-Madison and have the potential to span multiple campuses of the UW system or affiliated entities such as UW Foundation and the Wisconsin Alumni Association. The position consults with senior University management and staff, and UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) leadership to assist in planning for, and defining the scope of, major information technology projects.

Strong project leadership and coordination across many stakeholder groups including vendor partnerships will be essential. Project managers will have regular contact with campus leaders, directors, faculty and staff as we collaborate on initiating solutions, planning courses of action, and executing and controlling business and technology projects that affect students, staff and employees campus-wide. Project managers strive to ensure that best practices and processes are used for managing projects, and to maintain the vision for, and value of, project management at the University.

The CIO Project Management Office provides project management and business analysis service to all offices on the UW Madison campus, to other UW System campus's, and to the University System Administration. The Project Management Office is comprised of project managers and business analysts who may have temporary desk locations in offices across campus for the duration of projects. Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

-2-5 years of project management experience working with diverse project teams comprised of functional stakeholders and technical personnel. (A minimum of 7 years of experience to be considered for the Senior level.)

-Proven leadership skills building highly effective and cross-functional teams, developing commitment and consensus, and inspiring and motivating team members to achieve goals and objectives.

-Experience managing a variety of project tasks, such as prioritizing and planning work activities, setting appropriate deadlines to complete activities accordingly, identifying and managing risk, monitoring and controlling budget, and effectively managing time and resources, and vendor relationship management.

-Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills as demonstrated through a variety of information sharing mediums, collaboration, relationship development and ability to nurture trust and mutual respect resulting in high-level satisfaction from all stakeholder levels within the project.

The candidate selected for this position may initially work remotely subject to an approved remote work agreement. Remote work requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on an employer provided computer. In the future, this position may work a combination of onsite and remote. Candidate may, on occasion, be required to report to campus due to operational needs for meetings, trainings, or other activities.
