Position Summary:

The Division of Allergy, Pulmonary and Critical Care at the University of Wisconsin Madison is seeking a Transplant Pulmonologist on the research track to join our Advanced Pulmonary Service/Lung Transplant Program. The lung transplant program at the University of Wisconsin Madison, established in 1988, is the only Medicare certified program in Wisconsin. We have performed over 825 lung transplants and currently have the shortest wait list times in the region, lower mortality than the national average, and exceptional patient outcomes. The University of Wisconsin Hospital serves as one of only three lung transplant centers for the VA Health system.

Principal Duties:

25% Clinical duties, 75% Research

This position will have clinical responsibilities including provision of care (inpatient and outpatient) for patients with Advanced Pulmonary Disease and Lung Transplant. Additional areas of clinical focus could include advanced lung disease with interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, or COPD based on the candidate's interest. Candidate may have the opportunity to serve as Associate Director for the Lung Transplant Program. Candidate will participate in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, with an opportunity to participate in didactic teaching. Candidates will support QI and research efforts within the Lung Transplant Program and participate in professional, public and university service.

Candidates interested in the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position will support QI and research efforts within the Lung Transplant Program. The successful candidate will also participate in professional, public and university service.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

MD or DO required.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Completion of an accredited Pulmonary Fellowship. Experience/additional training for the care of patients post Lung Transplant, and other Advanced Pulmonary Diseases required. Demonstrated research success with a strong publication record. Candidates for Associate rank must meet criteria for appointment at rank per UW School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines.

License or Certificate:

Eligible for WI license

Additional Information:

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial Caregiver Check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and then every four years.
