Mount Aloysius College seeks a highly qualified financial and
accounting professional to join our team as a
full-time Controller in the Business and
Finance Department. The Controller will assist the SVP
for Administration & Strategy/Chief Financial Officer with
planning, organizing and directing the financial affairs of the
College.
Responsibilities include oversight of accounting and financial
reporting including financial statement audits, IRS reporting (990,
W2, 1099, 1098t, etc.), grant reporting, and financial reporting
for the Board of Trustees, Senior Administration and other
constituent groups. The Controller will also oversee student
billing, accounts payable and payroll. The Controller will also
develop and monitor the College’s operating budget and manage
operating cash flow; ensure compliance with debt agreements; and
reconcile and report on performance of the College’s endowment and
other investments.
The Controller will ensure appropriate internal controls and monitor compliance with college and department policies and procedures and applicable Federal, State and local laws and regulations. The Controller also leads the College’s risk management function which includes insurance policies, renewals and related activities.
The Controller supervises the Assistant Controller and Payroll/Finance Manager and has indirect oversight of 5 additional staff members.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required. CPA strongly preferred. Minimum ten (10) years of experience in accounting/finance positions of increasing responsibility including at least five (5) years of experience in a supervisory role. Extensive knowledge of accounting and regulatory issues impacting non-profits is required. Experience in a college or university setting is strongly preferred.
Requires strong interpersonal and communication
skills. Outstanding leadership skills including the
ability to listen, communicate, and collaborate effectively with
the College’s diverse stakeholders are
essential. Analytical skills and the ability and
willingness to identify and implement creative solutions are also
critical for this position.
