The School of STEM at UW Bothell has an outstanding opportunity for a Marketing and Communications Manager.

Reporting directly to the Dean, this position leads communications strategy, management and implementation for the School of STEM. The Marketing and Communications Manager will manage both external and internal focused communication, including oversight of web development, story development and placement, production of newsletters and promotional materials, and social media content.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provides advice and develops strategy for messaging to faculty, students, staff, and external audiences.
• Manages website strategy and the development of content and information architecture, and serves as primary publisher.
• Develops Quarterly Crossroads newsletter in consultation with the Dean; distributes to core audiences.
• Coordinates division and program newsletters with key staff to ensure message alignment.
• Develops and coordinates school social media posts and serves as primary publisher.
• Manages school SharePoint site.
• Manages alumni relations and engagement, in coordination with central UW Bothell alumni engagement team.
• Supports creation and editing of other written and visual communications as needed.
• Manages the School’s event calendar and works with school and division faculty and staff to promote events.
• Supports STEM Advisory Board communications in consultation with the Dean and Assistant to the Dean.
• Represents the School on the UW Bothell Communications Council and coordinate marketing initiatives with the central UW Bothell Office of Marketing & Communications, as appropriate. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field. Equivalent appropriate experience may substitute for this requirement.
• Minimum of 3 years of directly related work experience, including responsibility for regular production of communications and publications.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Strong project management and problem-solving skills, ability to adapt to shifting priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with communications planning and strategy.
• Experience with Content Management Systems.
• Experience with photo editing software.
• Experience with branding programs.
• Experience with social media.
• Attention to detail and experience with copy editing and using style sheets.
• Ability to work with a diverse constituency and demonstrated ability to work with diverse audiences and staff at all levels of an organization.

DESIRED EXPERIENCE

• Higher education experience.
• Experience with developing information architecture and page layout structures.
• Familiarity with research institution topics; able to interpret technical and scientific information for a non-technical audience.
• Accessibility training and experience.
• Experience with SharePoint, Teams, Google applications.
• Experience with video production.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Shared office space environment.
• Work will be performed across UW Bothell campus.
• Must be available to work occasional weeknights and weekends (infrequent).
