Student Success Coach

The student success coach will act as a guide to help students develop the skills and behaviors associated with academic success. This position is responsible for identifying and assisting students in need of additional academic and personal support, as well as coordinating specialized student success programming. The purpose of the student success coach is to provide targeted support, interventions, programming, and outreach to the population of at-risk students to help them meet their personal and academic goals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Coordinates institutional efforts and targeted support, interventions, programming, and outreach to students in "at-risk" populations including first-generation college students, student-athletes, students with disabilities, students admitted on probation, and students experiencing academic or personal distress (academic probation, dismissal warnings, and those on final semester probation).
· Provide leadership and support for the Educational Success Program (ESP).
· Conducts environmental scanning, and data mining to identify other at-risk students in need of success coaching services.
· Facilitates strategic one-to-one and group coaching sessions to help students build their own capacity for academic success.
· Provides ongoing encouragement, support, tapping into student's personal goals, and intrinsic motivating factors using multiple platforms and tools.
· Serves as a back-up proctor to assist testing services.
· Collaborates with the director of the Timberwolf Learning Center (TLC) and Strosacker Learning Commons staff to implement relevant student success workshops and other supplemental learning experiences.
· Represents Academics on committees related to strategic enrollment management efforts at Northwood University.
· Other duties as assigned, especially those related to student success, persistence, and raising Northwood University's graduation rates.
Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor's degree, computer literacy, excellent listening skills, organizational, critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact effectively with a wide range of student colleagues. Experience mentoring, teaching, tutoring, or coaching at-risk college students.
Preferred: Master's preferred in student affairs, college counseling, social work or related field.
