Position Summary
This is an academic-year tenure-track or tenured appointment (75% research, 25% Extension) in the Department of Plant Pathology, College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences, University of Georgia ( UGA ) at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The hiring rank will be determined based on the successful candidate’s prior experience and track record. The position will be housed at UGA’s Griffin Campus ( https://www.griffin.uga.edu/ ) located 40 miles south of Atlanta. The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous, innovative, internationally recognized, and competitively funded program in the ecology and biology of mycotoxicogenic fungi and postharvest pathogens both in the field and in the postharvest environment, elucidate their host-pathogen interactions, and develop and help implement mycotoxin and postharvest disease mitigation strategies for the southeastern U.S. There is an expectation of excellence in grantsmanship, timely communication of research findings via peer-reviewed journal articles, and active participation in training and mentoring of graduate students and postdocs. The incumbent is expected to work collaboratively and across disciplines with colleagues at UGA, USDA - ARS, and other institutions to achieve research and Extension goals. Both traditional and emerging Extension outreach tools will be utilized to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer and educate Extension agents and producers on mycotoxin and postharvest disease mitigation in agronomic and specialty crops.

Additional Requirements
To be considered at the rank of Associate Professor, candidates must have at least 5 full years in rank at the Assistant Professor level.
To be eligible for tenure upon appointment, candidates must be appointed as an Associate Professor, have been tenured at a prior institution, and bring a demonstrably national reputation to the institution. Candidates must be approved for tenure upon appointment before hire.
