The Opportunity:

The College of Engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona, invites applications for a tenure-track position in our Mechanical Engineering Department. The position is anticipated to be available in Fall of 2022 at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. The Mechanical Engineering program offers three tracks where students can focus their studies: Energy, Propulsion, and Robotics. The department is particularly interested in interviewing candidates with industry experience in one of these specialties.

The College of Engineering (COE) faculty are housed in a modern academic complex, which is adjacent to robotics, mechatronics, propulsion, and wind tunnel laboratories. The COE faculty also make extensive use of the Aerospace Experimentation and Fabrication laboratory complex. This building consists of a fabrication suite, space systems lab, structural dynamics lab, materials science lab, mechanical testing lab, structures lab, and dedicated faculty research labs. All of these labs feature state-of-the-art equipment for undergraduate student use. A new 52,000 square foot STEM building was recently completed to house new Robotics and Thermal-Energy Labs as well as our Rapid Prototyping Lab.

The Prescott Campus of Embry-Riddle is a small, private, residential university located in the mountains of northern Arizona where faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of the campus environment. Prescott is rated as one of the most livable cities in the Southwest. It is located 5000 feet above sea level, has a mild climate, clean air, and is close to recreational and pristine wilderness areas and national forests.

Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and related experience is desired, but candidates with significant industry experience and a Masters Degree are strongly encouraged to apply.
