Job Summary/Basic Function

Millersville University of Pennsylvania is recruiting for a Full-Time / 9 Month Dining Services Baker position. The person selected for this position mixes and bakes baked goods served in the Dining Halls, Cash Operations, and Catered functions.

Annual Salary: $24,075.00 plus comprehensive benefits and tuition waiver.

Required Qualifications
  • One-year experience in pastry or quantity commercial or institutional baking or equivalent combination of experience and/or training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of baker’s ingredients, food production safety & sanitation.
  • Experience:
    • preparing ingredients.
    • baking on a quantity basis.
    • reading and interpreting recipes.
    • performing recipe extensions.
    • operating modern bakery equipment.
    • decorating cakes.
    • presenting items for buffets and student dining.


  • Basic math skills for recipe and quantity control.
  • Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
  • Evidence of a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Successful interview.
  • Successful completion of written and demonstrated practical test (cake decorating).
  • Successful completion of three background checks.
  • Successful completion of a physical and back screen.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Pastry/Baking.

Special Instructions to Applicants
  • This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Flexible work schedule as dictated by the needs of the university.
  • Dining and Conference Services staff may be required to work evenings and weekends.
  • Dining and Conference Services staff, as essential employees, need to arrive at work on a timely basis even when there is a publicly announced delayed opening or closing.
