Primary Function

To oversee the operations of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender & Sexuality, and to help promote the Center to the campus and surrounding communities. The Center for the Study of Women, Gender & Sexuality is an academic unit that offers a major, minors, and certificates to undergraduate and graduate students. To keep the Center running smoothly, it is essential that the employee be able to organize and prioritize effectively and efficiently. They must be able to work independently, utilize time well, and be a problem solver. The person in this position must have the ability to work with deadlines and sudden schedule changes. The position requires excellent communication skills, interpretation and understanding of university policies, and the ability to maintain confidentiality. The employee must be able to establish positive rapport with diverse students, faculty and staff. They must also have supervisory and training skills.
Duties and Responsibilities (generally)

The work assignments of the Director of the Center for the Study of Women, Gender & Sexuality along with coordination of staff schedules and office functions have this employee’s first priority. The person occupying this position is expected to prioritize the sum of the workload according to a knowledge of scheduling requirements of the office relative to deadlines, as well as to initiate needed projects. They must create and disperse communication and marketing materials and strategize how to best reach target audiences. Work methods are determined by the employee, who is expected to follow through with little supervision. The exercise of independent judgment is frequently required within the course of a day. The person occupying this position must have maturity, flexibility, excellent organizational and communications skills and the ability to be a self-starter, work independently, and maintain productivity.
Minimum Required Qualifications for this position

1.High school graduation or equivalent.
2.Two (2) years (24 months) of work experience comparable to the third level of this series.

Education and Experience Preferred

Experience with design and social media publishing tools and analytics.
Experience working with diverse populations.
List the knowledge, skills, and abilities critical to the performance of this position.

Extensive knowledge of office support and general office practices and procedures.
Extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation, sentence and paragraph structure, and formatting.

Minimum Pay Rate (Hourly or Monthly)
$13.05/ hour

Actual hiring rate is commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity; position includes a robust benefits package to eligible applicants.
