Position Title: Media Technician 3 Division/Department: Information Services Location Albany Campus, Albany, OR Job Summary:
Maintains Media department computers and college video telecommunications systems, multimedia system components, and hardware. Assists in operation of video equipment including streaming internet video, teleconferences, and recording of broadcasts and events. Coordinates daily activities of the audio-visual operation. Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Position requires an AA/AS degree in computer related field, media communications or related field plus equivalent to two years full-time experience in computer support, audio visual support or related field, or a BA/BS degree in computer science or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

Licenses and Certificates: Requires a valid Oregon driver’s license and access to reliable transportation. Must meet and maintain adherence with the college’s driver screening guidelines.

Knowledge and Skills : Requires technical knowledge of the practices and principles of audio-visual equipment setup, operation and maintenance. Must be skilled in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of multimedia system components, including computers, software and hardware. Requires sufficient analytical skills to assess problems or unusual situations and develop solutions. Requires strong prioritizing, planning and communication skills. Requires working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and database programs. Requires typing and keyboarding skills.

Abilities: Requires the ability to independently perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively. Requires the ability to read and write technical concepts and understand technical manuals or literature. Must be able to install, configure, troubleshoot and maintain all of the software applications and multimedia system components used within the classrooms. Requires the ability to organize, plan and prioritize work in order to meet schedules and timelines. Must have strong communication and training skills and be able to communicate technical information to non-technical users. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals of all cultures, backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities. Preferred Qualifications:
A good understanding of the operations, goals and objectives of the college. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Position involves walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, carrying, pulling, and lifting of materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Infrequently lifts over 50 pounds. Some climbing. Requires near visual acuity and accommodation (ability to bring items into sharp focus), strong arm, hand and finger dexterity, and hand-eye coordination. Must be able to use a computer and perform keyboarding functions. Requires speaking and hearing ability sufficient to hear over the phone and carry on routine or technical conversations.

Work is performed in an office setting, in classrooms, in other facilities, and outside. Some evening hours to provide support for faculty may be required. There is some exposure to noise, heat and inclement weather conditions. Work routines are often fast-paced and frequently interrupted. Travel to other sites is required. Essential Duties:
Assembles, tests, and maintains classroom multimedia system components for college lecterns and portable carts. Installs specialized software and hardware on classroom computers and tests compatibility.

Schedules, delivers and sets-up audio, video, and multimedia equipment and software on and off campus. Ensures deliveries meet time, schedule, and quality requirements.

Responsible for maintenance of all AV/Media computer systems within the department and classrooms, including installation and updates.

Sets up classrooms for distance course transmission, teleconferences and webinars. Operates distance classroom cameras, video switchers, microphones, and transmitting equipment, IP equipment, and streaming hardware.

Labels and keeps track of materials and equipment. Keeps inventory up to date and tracks cost, purchase dates, and warranties. Orders supplies and equipment.

Presents workshops and training for faculty and staff in the operation of classroom technology.

Keep technically current in emerging software and hardware related to the position. Researches, evaluates and recommends selection of new and updated classroom multimedia system components.

Performs basic equipment repair and maintenance duties, including cleaning and troubleshooting.
