Founded by the Congregation of Holy Cross in 1948, Stonehill is a private Catholic college located just 22 miles from downtown Boston on a beautiful 384-acre campus in Easton, Massachusetts. Stonehill College invites applications for the Dean of Graduate Studies. Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean maintains a portfolio of direct reports and coordinates all operations and activities in support of Graduate Education at Stonehill College. We are especially interested in candidates who will contribute to a campus climate that supports diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Dean works as part of the leadership team in Academic Affairs.

The Dean of Graduate Studies is the intellectual and administrative leader of all graduate academic programs of the College, and the chief advocate for the mission, vision, and purposes of the College’s graduate programs. The Dean facilitates a spirit of collaborative leadership across the College to support student success, to promote and strengthen high-quality academic programs.  The Dean of Graduate Studies will be expected to manage administrative functions relative to graduate education, including setting strategic initiatives and participating in the College’s long-term planning and policy-setting. Additionally, the Dean will provide senior-level administrative leadership for our current graduate programs while building new areas of graduate programs.  The Dean will lead in areas of curriculum development, institutional assessment and improvement, human resources, faculty development and performance appraisals, budget and finance, and facilities planning and management. The Dean of Graduate Studies will verify the adequacy of instruction and monitor academic integrity and progress for graduate programs.

Education & Experience

A Doctorate, or other appropriate terminal degree, from a regionally accredited institution is required. A minimum of three to five years of increasing level of administrative experience and administrative and leadership experience as a dean, associate dean, department chair/academic program director, or similar position with an emphasis on graduate education and learning is required. Active engagement in scholarship and/or creative activity, knowledge of instructional technology, online teaching and instructional design experience, and higher education administrative experience, ability to read, write and develop ideas in order to effectively plan, organize and implement the programs at a level normally acquired by a doctoral degree or demonstrated equivalent experience, and financial planning, fund accounting, market and program planning skills are necessary.
