Missoula College at the University of Montana in Missoula invites applications for a Program Coordinator I to join our team. The person assigned to this position provides a variety of student services to Business & Technology students at Missoula College as well as providing administrative support for faculty, program directors, and the department chair.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with admissions to ensure effective and quality recruitment of students
  • Provides advising for students, including individual advising meetings, conducting general program information sessions, and participating in new student orientation programs.
  • Assists with necessary student processes related to admissions, registration, financial aid, student accounts, etc.
  • Manage fiscal activity related to accounts payable function.
  • Provide oversight of Business & Technology funds.
  • Prepare fiscal reports as needed for Program Directors and Department Chair.


Required Skills
  • Ability to learn in detail programs involving transfer education, career-technical education, developmental education, and community education
  • Ability to learn the University of Montana General Education curriculum, MUS Core, and other graduation requirements
  • Ability to advise students regarding a myriad of issues from course selection to withdrawals and reinstatements to support services such as tutoring and counseling
  • Familiarity with Missoula College and University of Montana academic policies and processes
  • Ability to collaborate on projects and handle conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to forge and foster a professional relationship with academic department chairs and advocate for students when appropriate
  • Knowledge of Missoula College and University of Montana campus services offices
  • Excellent communication skills including listening and feedback skills
  • Knowledge in use of computer software programs for word processing (MS Word), spreadsheets, (Excel), computerized calendars and e-mail (MS Outlook)


Minimum Required Experience
  • Associate’s degree and one (1) year of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience


Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Related work experience in higher education
  • Previous work experience in admissions, recruitment, or student advising
  • Familiarity with University of Montana student resources

Position Details

Position Title: Program Coordinator I

Position Number: NEW

Department: Missoula College

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Salary: $13.923/hr

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
