About the Opportunity:
Interested in working with video games, children, and behavioral research? The Health Technology Lab (www.northeastern.edu/healthtech/) at Northeastern University, Boston, MA, is looking to hire multiple research assistants for a clinical trial funded by the National Institutes of Health. This project will use active video games to encourage children's physical activity behaviors.
Responsibilities:
Your job involves data collection and processing. Previous experience in wet lab environments is preferred. More specifically, you will be trained to conduct cognitive tests, collect survey data, biological assay, and anthropometric measurements among children. You may attend several outreach events. You will gain valuable experience interacting with children, exploring interactive media production, learning new interpersonal skills, and conducting interdisciplinary behavioral research.
Qualifications:
Background in biology, health science, or a related field is preferred
Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree is preferred
Experience in blood specimen processing is preferred
One year of relevant experience in addition to any educational requirements
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Detail-oriented and ability to follow protocol
Comfort with working with Microsoft Office and video game consoles
Be able to work well both independently and in a team environment
Prior experience in research and/or working with children
The ability to communicate in Spanish preferred
Ability to work weekend hours is required
Additional Information:
Minority applicants are encouraged. Please note that this is a part-time, non-benefits eligible position with up to 20 working hours per week. Initial appointments are three months after a one-month probationary period, with the possibility for renewal, contingent on performance.
