About the Opportunity:
The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is seeking two full-time Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Clinical Supervisors!

Bouve College of Health Sciences is comprised of four preeminent schools of study encompassing approximately 1,000 faculty and staff, 5,000 students, and 40,000 alumni.

Please note: The primary work location for this position is the Boston MA Northeastern University Campus Location. Until our full return to campus, which is still to-be-determined, this interview process will be conducted remotely- including virtual interviews, remote onboarding and remote work. The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders invites applications from highly-motivated candidates for two full-time SLP Clinical Supervisors for work within the on-campus Speech-Language and Hearing Center (SLHC These appointments begin Fall 2021 or sooner and are for the duration of 1 year, subject to renewal contingent on department enrollments and business need.

These openings are inclusive of one entry-level practitioner (Level I) with a minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience and one advanced practitioner (Level II) with 5+ years of clinical experience; OR two advanced Level II practitioners.

The Level I SLP Clinical Supervisor possess basic knowledge of those areas of screening, diagnostic, and re/habilitative services, education, counseling, and referrals covered in the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) Scope of Practice. This individual may present with specific areas of interest or clinical focus, but provides direct client contact services within the SLHC to a wide range of clients, ages, and disorder areas to meet the demands of volume, scheduling, and clinical objectives.

The Level II SLP Clinical Supervisor is an advanced practice SLP who possesses depth and breadth of experience within the areas covered by the ASHA Scope of Practice. This individual has an area of expertise/specialty that allows the SLHC to offer specialty services and/or advanced training for students. The Level II SLP Clinical Supervisor assists the Clinic Director with program development in the specialty area, establishment of policies and procedures, forms, and maintenance/recommendations for clinical equipment and practices.

Both Level I and Level II SLP Clinical Supervisors provide services which comply with the policies & procedures of the SLHC, ensure compliance with mandates of regulatory agencies (including maintenance of the environment of care, infection control, HIPAA, billing, documentation, and annual training), maintain currency of licensure, complete all required clinical and operational documentation/forms, and participate in any programs or initiatives required by the Clinic Director, Department Chair or regulatory agencies (e.g. performance improvement activities). The primary focus of the Clinical Supervisors is to provide clinical supervision and training to graduate student clinicians in the SLHC. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with program development (e.g., establishment of policies and procedures, forms, or protocols), supervising simulated experiences (e.g., using Simucase), assisting with marketing and client outreach to increase client volume and diversity, and participation in undergraduate student learning experiences.

  • Minimum completion of a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Massachusetts license to practice Speech-Language Pathology by appointment start date
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of clinical experience; or 5+ years of highly specialized clinical experience (e.g., specialty practice experience and/or expertise desired, such as AAC, autism, fluency, accent modification, and/or voice)
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience and student mentorship
  • The ability to work well with and supervise students at varied levels of proficiency and skill
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • A focus on patient-centered practice and cultural competency
  • Proficiency with computer technology (e.g., Office365 suite utilizing Word, Excel, and email)
  • Excellent organizational skills; can work independently, but seek out guidance when needed
  • The ability to work well with multiple levels of staff, students, and clients at varied levels of proficiency
